Ian Downes - pupil 1968 -
Form 1Y - 1968 - 1969
Form 2R - 1969 - 1970

Above: during
a school trip to France. We stayed at the Hotel Du Parc, Dinard, Brittany. I
think it was summer 1970, the year "Sam" Jones was my form master (2R) and
French master. I seem to remember "Sam" was his nickname - I can't remember his
real name. Sam is pictured here in the role of bar man in the dining room of
the hotel on our last night in France

Above: a group of Sixth Formers on a "wood chopping" session. It was during the 1974 coal miners' strike. We spent a Saturday chopping old desks and chairs into sticks which were then distributed to pensioners in the area. The idea was hatched by Pod (John Harrison) and illustrates his genuine concern for the welfare of people.
