John Presgrave: pupil 1955 - 1962
I have attached one photo which may be worth incorporating on the website, and that is the school orchestra of 1955-56. I was in my first year (1Beatty under “Pongo”) then, and I was the youngest member of the orchestra at that time. I guess my “claim to fame” was being with the school orchestra throughout my time at Firth Park (1955-1962), and being the orchestra leader over the final 3 years.
You may also have seen my name in the “Firparnian” with reference to Cross Country where I was a regular both in the junior and senior teams.
I went to Manchester University in 1962 - this is documented somewhere on the website - I think it refers to the excellent achievement of our year when as many as 33 pupils got places at UK universities in that year. I got an upper 2nd Honours and Masters in Chemistry, and worked 35 years for ICI/Astra Zeneca, from where I recently retired.
I'd like to know where some of my year are now. Perhaps they can contact me through this Web site?
