OLD FIRPARNIANS RE-UNION
On Saturday 1st August 2009, a group of ex-pupils from the former Firth Park
Grammar School held a reunion at the Fat Cat Pub in Sheffield, 50 years
after most of them had left school in order to seek their way in the world.
Because many of the former pupils are now living world-wide, the reunion is
to be held in two parts, with the second part being held in early December
2009.
The group spent five hours exchanging memories of their time at the school
and also swapping stories of their adventures over the past 50 years.
Memories were put to the test when they were invited to sing the School
Song. Those who attended were given souvenir coasters to mark the event, and
all who attended felt that the event had been a huge success and were
looking forward to meeting even more of their former school friends at the
December gathering.

OLD FIRPARNIANS REUNION 2009 -
1954 Intake
On Saturday 12th December
2009, 34 former school-friends met at the Kelham Island Tavern for a School Reunion. These were former pupils of
Firth
Park Grammar School (The Brushes) who had formally
left the school in the summer of 1959. Because many former ‘Redcaps’ are now scattered
world-wide, the Reunion has been held in two parts, one in August and one
in December. An additional pleasant aspect is that a few ex-pupils from
other years have also attended the meetings.
Attendees brought many souvenirs to the Reunion, school
scarves, caps, ties and many photographs etc. In addition, the gathering
took place within a background of music from the late fifties and early
sixties. Those who attended were given souvenir coasters to mark the
event; all who attended felt that the event had been a huge success and
have now agreed to make it an annual function on the first Saturday in
December each year, at the same venue.
In total sixty former pupils who left the school in 1959 have
now been traced. The tracing process will continue, and any untraced Old Firparnians from that year (or
neighbouring years) who would like to be involved, either in renewing
personal contacts or participating in group gatherings, are asked to
contact organiser Dr Alec Carrotte on (01507)
