" Theodore Francis Johnson was educated at Ashton-under-Lyne Grammar School and Merton College, Oxford where he took a Second in Classical Moderations, and a First in History in 1931.
After four years as Classics Master at Marling School, Stroud, he went to Firth Park Grammar School as Senior History Master. His pupils and colleagues knew him as a man of irrepressible humour and immense concern for people.
